OysterMax® and Sexual Health

‘OysterMax® is the most concentrated oyster extract available. Due to the high organic zinc content it can drastically help increase sexual libido.’

Libido refers to a fluctuating state of sexual motivation in all organisms. Sexual motivation is altered by internal factors, such as circulating steroid hormone levels and feedback from sexual stimulation. [1]

While OysterMax® has no control over those external stimuli that affect libido, it certainly does have an affect on the internal factors and in particular the production of the anabolic steroid, testosterone.

‘OysterMax® contains the highest concentration of organic zinc of any natural zinc supplement on the market today’

Factors affecting libido in men:

Low testosterone levels
Alcohol and drug abuse
Obesity
Stress and fatigue
Depression
Relationship problems

‘The trace elements, zinc, copper and selenium are important in reproduction in males and females. Zinc content is high in the adult testis, and the prostate has a higher concentration of zinc than any other organ of the body.’[6]

‘OysterMax® is the only supplement to provide high quality, organic zinc with it’s co-factors in a unique bio-available format. These co-factors include copper, selenium and manganese.’

Factors affecting libido in women:

Low testosterone levels
Alcohol and drug abuse
Obesity
Stressed or overworked
Depression
Difficult living conditions
Relationship problems
Contraceptive medicines

“Inadequate levels of zinc also prevent the pituitary gland from releasing luteinizing and follicle stimulating hormones, both of which stimulate testosterone production.”[7]

OysterMax® and Testosterone

Research has proven that zinc deficiency leads to low testosterone levels. The main reason for this is believed to be poor testicular health resulting from zinc deficiency. [2]

Inadequate levels of zinc also prevent the pituitary gland from releasing luteinizing and follicle stimulating hormones, both of which stimulate testosterone production. [7]

Testosterone is a steroidal hormone from the androgen group. In mammals, testosterone is primarily secreted in the testes of males and the ovaries of females, although small amounts are also secreted by the adrenal glands. It is the principal male sex hormone and an anabolic steroid.

In both men and women, testosterone plays a key role in health and well-being as well as in sexual functioning. Examples include enhanced libido, energy and protection against osteoporosis. On average, an adult human male body produces about eight to ten times more testosterone than an adult female body. [3]

By improving zinc levels in the blood we can increase the levels of testosterone in the body. The effects of this increase in testosterone are many. See below.

  • Maintenance of muscle mass and strength [4]
  • Maintenance of bone density and strength
  • Libido and clitoral engorgement
  • Penile erection frequency
  • Mental and physical energy

‘OysterMax® can help increase serum testosterone levels as it is the most potent oyster extract on the market today.’

OysterMax and the sexually active male

Sexually active men have a much higher need to monitor zinc intake as the amount of zinc lost with each ejaculation can be considerable. Semen has a concentration of zinc that is 60 times higher than blood plasma. [8]

The zinc losses in semen combined with the other nocturnal habits of the sexually active male require due care is taken to ensure adequate zinc intake.

‘OysterMax® is the most bio-available form of natural zinc available on the market today’
